DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE

 

 

The Caldwell Parish School Board is dedicated to providing a drug-free workplace for its employees and all the students within its authority.  Toward that end, the unlawful manufacture, distributions, dispensation, possession or use of a controlled substance in or on any and all property of the Caldwell Parish School Board by any employee or student shall be prohibited.  Employees and students violating such a prohibition shall be subject to the appropriate disciplinary action.  Such action may include, but not necessarily be limited to suspension, termination, or mandatory participation in a drug abuse assistance or rehabilitation program.

 

All employees of the Caldwell Parish School Board shall be given a copy of this policy and as a condition of employment, shall agree to abide by the conditions contained herewith.  The employee shall also agree to notify the School Board of any criminal drug statute conviction for a violation occurring in the workplace no later than five (5) days after such conviction.

 

The Caldwell Parish School Board shall notify the appropriate governmental agencies within ten (10) days after receiving notice of such conviction and shall take action against the offending employee within thirty (30) days.

 

The School Board shall also establish a drug-free awareness program and shall make a good faith effort to maintain a drug-free workplace.  Employees, students and parents shall be notified of the provisions of the School Board's Drug Prevention Program.
