EMPLOYMENT CRITERIA
The Caldwell Parish School Board adheres to the policy that the selection, transfer, promotion, demotion and dismissal of professional personnel in the School District shall be made without regard to race, creed, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, disability or other similar personal distinction. The following objective and subjective criteria shall be used in the recruitment and selection of personnel employed within the school system:
Certification as described in Louisiana Standards for State Certification of School Personnel, Bulletin 746, Louisiana Department of Education
Educational background
Institution attended;
accredited institution;
type of educational program;
degree earned;
credits earned;
education
majors
minors
electives
transcript of grades;
grades as student teacher, if any;
Additional education as measured by criteria in A above;
Previous experiences working with students;
Available evaluations and recommendations as provided by:
Professional associates;
Employers; and,
Supervisors of student teachers.
(Note: No evaluations or recommendations from relatives shall be accepted.)
The person's exhibited knowledge of his/her subject matter, ability to communicate that subject matter to students, personality and general appearance, educational philosophy, and ability to work cooperatively with others as found through personal interviews by the department of personnel and/or the Superintendent;
Results of standardized nondiscriminatory tests; these may be considered but will not be, of themselves, determinative;
Adherence, if at all possible, in the selection of all personnel to a policy of racial balance.
The process of staff selection or promotion shall be free from pressures considered detrimental to the best conduct of the public school system. This process is based on two major principles:
Selection or promotion shall be based on the ability to fulfill, efficiently, the responsibilities of the position as judged by all pertinent standards.
The applicant shall not resort to use of other pressures to gain employment or promotion.
