LESSON PLANS

 

 

The Caldwell Parish School Board shall require the development of lesson plans by each teacher.  The plans shall be developed on a unit or report period and on a daily basis.  It shall be the responsibility of each principal to see that the teachers under his/her supervision prepare lesson plans.  Supervisors of instruction shall be available to assist teachers in developing effective and acceptable plans when this service is requested.

 

Lesson plans shall be available for inspection by the principal.  The Superintendent shall instruct principals and other supervisory personnel to review lesson plans periodically.

 

  1. Objectives and Purposes of Planning

 

    1. To assure proper preparedness on the part of the teachers.
       

    2. To assure organized planning for several days in advance.
       

    3. To help provide continuity of instruction.
       

    4. For use as a "log" or record of materials covered.  This should aid the teacher in future planning.
       

    5. To serve as a written record of what has been accomplished.
       

    6. To provide a guide for the substitute teacher.
       

    7. It is emphasized that the plans are made to benefit the teacher using them and are not suggested as a "showpiece" of composition for the supervisor's or principal's benefit.

 

  1. Suggested Requirements

 

    1. Weekly, unit or other long term general planning is required as part of the implementation of the Comprehensive Curriculum.
       

    2. Detailed planning for the full week ahead should be prepared and ready on Monday, (or the first day of the school week).
       

    3. Plans should be written using the parish lesson plan forms provided by the system.  These forms will serve as the basic lesson plan book and will be current and at hand at all times.  Any additional planning and notes relative to the lesson such as the curriculum timelines and Grade Level Expectation Checklist will be a part of the Comprehensive Curriculum binder.
       

    4. The basic lesson plan shall include:

 

 

  1. Follow-up Procedures

 

    1. The lesson plan book will be subject to inspection by the principal or supervisor on any classroom visit.
       

    2. The plan book will be taken up at the end of the year and reviewed by the principal.  It will be returned to the teacher for use in planning the next year's work or turned over to a replacement teacher as a guide to what has been done the year before.

 

  1. Other Provisions

 

    1. Uniform and current entry of grades, absences, and other records of achievement shall be made in the daily class register, with each entry clearly labeled and identified.
       

    2. Current and complete entries shall be recorded.
