BOARD MEMBER ORIENTATION

 

 

The Caldwell Parish School Board realizes the importance of a functional orientation program for Board members, especially new members.  Under the guidance and directions of experienced Board members and the Superintendent of Schools, orientation shall be provided Board members to allow the members to become fully informed about the Board's functions, policies, procedures and problems.  Administrative staff members shall participate in such activities, when appropriate.

 

In addition:

 

  1. In the interim between election/appointment and actually assuming office, the new member shall be invited to attend all meetings and functions of the Board, and shall receive all reports and communications normally sent to Board members.
     

  2. The new member shall be provided with copies of all appropriate publications and aids, including the Board policy manual and publications of the state and national School Boards associations.
     

  3. The Board President and members of the administrative staff shall also confer with the new member as necessary on special problems or concerns.
