RECRUITMENT
The Caldwell Parish School Board recognizes that an outstanding educational program in any school system is dependent upon the employment and retention of the best qualified personnel. The Board feels that this can best be accomplished by giving careful consideration to qualifications and by providing attractive salary schedules, good working conditions, and adequate facilities.
The Superintendent or his/her designee shall be responsible for the maintenance of a plan for actively recruiting qualified personnel for employment by the school district. The hiring of qualified minority persons shall be a priority. Advertisements for all positions shall be published except when an emergency is declared by the Board, in which case the advertisement period may be altered or waived.
When filling vacancies in positions of authority or those with policymaking duties, the School Board or any agent acting on behalf of the School Board shall not utilize only oral contacts and interviews of applicants considered, or use any other means to circumvent the provisions of this statute. Nothing, however, shall prohibit oral contact prior to a person becoming an applicant or shall prohibit oral contact which may result in a written application or other documents.
DISCLOSURE OF APPLICANT’S RECORDS
The name of each applicant for certain positions of authority or those with policymaking duties, the qualifications of such an applicant, and any relevant employment history or experience of such an applicant shall be available for public inspection, examination, copying, or reproduction as provided for in the statutory provisions governing public works.
ADVERTISEMENT OF VACANT POSITION
When a vacancy occurs in
any position, or a new position is created, the Superintendent or
his/her designee shall advertise the vacancy immediately for a minimum
of two (2) weeks in the official journal and notices shall be sent
to all Caldwell Parish public schools to be posted in a prominent
location. Advertisement may also include specialized publications,
in order to attract qualified minority applicants or persons in specialized
fields of teaching, as well as targeted colleges and universities,
especially historically black institutions.
The Superintendent or his/her designee shall periodically visit or
designate representatives of the district to visit selected colleges
and universities to recruit possible candidates for teaching or other
positions in the school district. Full utilization of community
resources shall be made during these trips.
Notice of vacancy shall include the following:
Job title and classification
Qualifications
Salary range
Application procedure
Deadline (date and time)
Contract dates
Interested applicants shall be provided with the following at the time of application:
Requirements for employment
Job description
Salary information
Background check requirements
Following the deadline for
applications, it is the responsibility of the Superintendent or his/her
designee to assure that applicants meet certification/qualification
requirements, assure that applications are filed on time, references
are checked and required documentation is included.
Following the application deadline, any applicant who does not meet requirements shall be notified in writing that his/her application shall not be given further consideration.
APPLICATIONS
Applications for positions with the Caldwell Parish School Board shall remain in the active file for one year. A person wishing to renew his/her application after one year may do so by calling the School Board or by filing another application.
